Angelica Soza's Fluid Perspectives collection of energetic free-form paintings represents science, beauty, movement, emotion and individuality.
Originally called 'accidental painting" because it seems effortless and neurotic, fluid painting is anything but accidental. "As a cognitive psychology researcher and artist I naturally connect both science and art via my fluid acrylic pours," artist Angelica "Jelly" Soza tells us. In her art, she studies the adhesion and cohesion between different fluids, densities and pigments, and purposefully mixes unconventional substances such as alcohol, water, oils, acrylics, lube, WD-40, fluetrol, vino, and even her own DNA.
A fluid is a substance with no fixed shape and easily yields to external pressure. In these pieces, Soza hopes viewers will discover that their own definitions, the language they use to construct meaning from her paintings, will be as fluid as her works.
