Ferns are some of the earliest land plants we know of, first appearing 360 million years ago. This extinct fern lived in what is now Pfalz, Germany, during the Permian (298.9–251.9 million years ago).
The plate measures 68x50x7mm. The leaf is 18mm long.
This fossil is cataloged, and was collected from the field as part of a study. A label on the underside states the collection identification:
