Selenite is also known as gypsum or calcium sulfate dihydrate. Selenite is soft, and can be scratched with a fingernail. It is deposited in lakes and seas through evaporation. It's also a very attractive mineral because of how it's fiber-optic-like crystals transmit light. Selenite towers, the mineral standing on end, make great lamps because of how the mineral handles light.
We looked all over for just the right selenite tower lamp. Sure, there are selenite towers with a plain white bulb in them, but we wanted colors. You know, just in case there was a technicolor emergency of some kind. And yeah, there are selenite towers with color-changing LEDs inside a separate base, but you can't control the colors as you'd like. So, while there are plenty to choose from out there, we never found a lamp with just the right features.
What to do? We decided to keep our maker spirit alive and just make the lamp. You can rely on the quality because we make these lamps right here in the shop. This also means, if you come across a problem with the lamp, let us know. Maybe we can help you fix it.
Our selenite lamps are 21cm tall, and contain multi-color LEDs that you can control with the included remote or using the free Magic Home app on your Android or Apple phones. The 24-key remote lets you control the color, brightness, 4 functions and power. The app lets you customize the functionality even further with more color changing functions, music synchronization and color capture with your phone's camera. It's a little awesome. And, sustainable cork padding protects your furniture... another Igneous Theory exclusive feature.
