Not all labradorite exhibits labradorescence. Labradorescence is the name of the optical effect (schiller) that produces the iridescent colors you see in the rough labradorite ring above. Labradorite that doesn't exhibit labradorescence either doesn't have the right composition or cooled to before calcium, sodium, silicon and aluminum ions could diffuse through the mineral to produce separation between microscopic layers, between which light entering the mineral gets bounced around before it exits, thereby creating labradorescence.
This 30x15mm cabochon labradorite is in an adjustable sterling silver ring.
