The name Triceratops literally means "three-horned face", and is derived from the Ancient Greek words tri, kéras, and ōps. The three horns -- a horn above each eye and one above the beak -- and the large bony frill provided excellent defense. This late Cretaceous (and therefore unfortunate) ceratopsian species's size probably topped out at 9m long and 3m tall. If you can imagine an African elephant standing in front of you, then you have the sizing about right. We bet they were probably as dangerous as an African elephant too.

On the other hand, this non-life-size head is not dangerous, and mounts easily on a wall. It measures 210x185x163mm. In fact, we have the 277g art piece hanging from a removable adhesive hook. It's light because Louis Habeck sculpted the head using foam and then sealed it with resin. The detail around the eyes is spectacular. Jennifer Eli French then hand painted the intricate botanical design in acrylic. Jennifer and Louis are in Billings, Montana.
