If you look through our shop you'll find our jewelry is made with many different metals. Silver and gold are the most common. But, isn't bronze for sculptures and home decor? What is rose gold? What is rhodium? Jewelry made of brass? Stainless steel? Surgical steel? In this part of our Let's Get Metal series, we look at rhodium.
Rhodium is like silver's harder and shinier sister. It's a noble metal, which means it doesn't react to oxygen easily. That makes it great for jewelry. Who wants to clean jewelry, right? But, it's also rarer than silver and, in turn, more expensive. So, you'll see it plated over silver and other metals.
Black rhodium is regular, shiny white rhodium mixed with other metals and chemicals to produce a lovely, moody, dark metal that is plated over silver and gold.
